Anthony Everett

Anthony EverettAnthony Everett is co-anchor of NewsCenter 5 at 5, 5:30 and 11 p.m. He added the 5 and 11 p.m. editions of NewsCenter 5 to his duties in July 2000 after being named co-anchor of the 5:30 p.m. broadcast in February 2000.

He had been the co-anchor of the 6 and 11 p.m. weekend newscasts since the summer of 1999. That same year, Everett and his colleagues were recognized by the National Headliner Awards in the "Best Newscast" category. Prior to that, he served as co-anchor of the weekend edition of the Midday and 6 p.m. news. During this period, Everett received recognition from National Headliner Awards, this time in the category of "Spot News."

In 2000, readers of The Improper Bostonian magazine voted Everett "Best Newscaster" in Boston. He has won numerous additional awards including the 1996 Massachusetts Broadcasters Association First Place award for spot news coverage. In 1993, the RTNDA recognized him with the "Continuing Coverage" award while in 1991 he received an award from the Associated Press in the same category. As a longtime advocate and volunteer for the National Multiple Sclerosis Society, Everett was honored with the Public Education Award in 1992. He has also received numerous Emmy nominations.

Everett began his tenure at WCVB-TV's NewsCenter 5 in 1990 as a general assignment reporter. Prior to joining Channel 5, Everett was a general assignment reporter and weekday anchor on the 6 p.m. and 11 p.m. newscasts at WVIT-TV, the NBC affiliate in Hartford, CT.

Before working in Hartford, from 1985 to 1987, Everett was an award-winning news director and anchor at KSPN-TV in Aspen, CO, where in 1984 he began his professional broadcasting career as a sports reporter and anchor.

Everett is a graduate of Tufts University in Medford, MA. He resides outside of Boston with his wife and their son.
